Body Size

Welcome! In this bulletin, we will be discussing the topic of Body Size. You’ll be able to find sections including definitions involving environmental justice, history, videos, articles/handouts, statistics, and questions to ponder.

DEFINITIONS

This category focuses on body size, with thin people as agents and fat people as targets.  At NCCJ we use the word fat because it is the language used by academics and activists who advocate for the dignity and rights of fat people in a weight-obsessed society.

Related ism: Sizeism

Discontinued terms: Obese and Overweight.

Border Identity: Small Fats
