Stand up, Sing out for Justice!
Sirius XM Satellite Radio's Seth Rudetsky brought together an enchanting evening for supporters of social justice, advocates, Broadway fans and members of the Hartford community (many were all of the above). Concert for America rocked The Bushnell with moving songs, soulfully impeccable tap dancing and some of the most beautiful and distinct voices that show business has to offer.

Getting her start as a child on Sesame Street, actress, singer and podcaster Jenna Ushkowitz is known for her role as Tina Cohen-Chang on Fox’s Glee and for performances in Broadway musicals including The King and I and Waitress. She has also made appearances in music videos for Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.
Capathia Jenkins is an American actress and singer know for her work on Broadway, with roles in shows such as Caroline, or Change, Newsies, and Martin Short's Fame Becomes Me. She was also featured in the the 2015 TV movie version of the Wiz Live! and the film Chicago. Her presence and power as a singer is sure to delight at Hartford’s Concert for America at The Bushnell this October.
Rapper, singer, actor, dancer, choreographer, streamer, director and Broadway regular, Todrick Hall was a popular semi-final contestant on the ninth season of American Idol, and currently is a judge on RuPaul's Drag Race. Hall recently wrapped up a well-received performance as Lola in Kinky Boots, and was recently featured as a back-up dancer in Taylor Swift’s record breaking video ”Look What You Made Me Do”, which as of September has over 105 million views and counting.
Known for roles in Les Misérables, Chess and FUN HOME, four time Tony Award nominee Judy Kuhn most recently starred as Golde in the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. Also known as the singing voice of Disney's Pocahontas, her performance of “Colors of the Wind” helped win the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Kuhn also appeared in Disney’s Enchanted, and has provided singing for several of their animated films.
Musician, actor, writer, radio host, his shows on Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s On Broadway include “Seth’s Big Fat Broadway” and “Seth’s Speaks,” focusing on Rudetsky’s knowledge of Broadway Theatre history and trivia.
Lilla Crawford is known for playing Annie in the recent revival and was Little Red Riding Hood in Disney’s Into the Woods with Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep and as of this year voices the leading character in the Nickelodeon series Sunny Day. We can’t wait to have her voice be part of this incredible evening!
Tap dance legend Maurice Hines’ massive career on stage and screen, and role in Francis Ford Coppola's The Cotton Club, have helped cement his lasting impact on the entertainment world. He directed, choreographed and eventually starred in the musical Uptown… It's Hot!, receiving a 1986 Tony Award nomination as Best Actor in a Musical for the Broadway run. He continues to tour, choreographing, dancing, singing and directing across the country.
Tony nominated actress for FUN HOME, and known for her role in Ring of Fire.
Playwright, actor and producer, his works include Unbroken Circle and Disaster, which he wrote and produced with husband, Seth Rudetsky.
John and Leo Manzari
John and Leo Manzari are Helen Hayes Award and Ovation Award nominated tap dancers that have performed for audiences across the country, making various television appearances, including FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Together, they received a Shirley Chisholm Trailblazer Award from the National Congress of Black Women that recognizes their distinct careers as tap dancers.
Stage, film and television actor Ernie Sabella plays the warthog Pumbaa in Disney’s The Lion King franchise, and will be singing "Hakuna MATATA" with film costar Matthew Broderick! His other roles include performances on stage in Guys and Dolls, in film in Mouse Hunt and on the sitcom Encore! Encore! in addition to many other credits.
Natalie Cortez played Diana in A Chorus Line and Anita in West Side Story on Broadway, and has many other stage credits to her name in addition to film.
Holy Near is an influential American singer-songwriter that has her roots in the folks movement of the 1960s. In addition to singing and being an active participant in the peace movement, she is an actor, teacher, activist, NCCJ National Human Relations Award winner and original cast member of Hair’s first run on Broadway.
