Encouraging more women in computer science

Encouraging more women in computer science

Mar 04, 2019

The field of computer science is known for being predominantly male. The percentage of women working in computer science-related professions has steadily declined since the 1990s, dropping from 35% to 25% in the last 15 years.  And though women now represent 47% of the workforce, as compared to 38% in the 1970s, only 12% of engineers are female.

Women's History Month is a perfect time to focus on encouraging more women to join this rapidly growing profession, ComputerScience.org has a variety of informative resources, including a guide to The Current State of Women in Computer Science. Take a look and share the info on this site with young women that you know -- so you can help them maintain confidence and curiosity in STEM subjects and explore career opportunities in computer science.
